Very clean and not very busy. Only issue was that if you had any questions there was no staff visibly present at all and the counter was closed. And that's mid-afternoon on a Saturday.

It isn't possible to travel directly to Peoria on an Amtrak train, but it is possible to travel to Bloomington-Normal on an Amtrak train and then take an Amtrak bus from there to Peoria.
Yes. The local bus also comes here, MCT - Madison County Transit.
Yes, and it's a major step upward. They not only have a train station, they have a bus station. All at one location with ticket parking. No fee for short term but they do have a fee for long term. It's a nice well lit parking.
