Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church

As a devoted catholic, I decided to visit Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel church in Buckeye Lake as today is her feast. I drove 46 minutes and was so excited to see the church and attend mass. However, the first 3 minutes was awkward because first person who walked up to me asked “How can I help you?” I expected a “Welcome” or “Are you here for mass?”…followed by other questions. I told her that I was visiting. A few parishioners walked by and gave me a nod but when Ms. Sally walked in, it was a different energy. Her smile was inviting! She walked up to me, said hello and handed me her offering envelope and asked me to drop it in the collection box for her since she would be up there singing. Throughout the mass we exchanged a few nods and smiles. She hugged me when I was leaving and invited me to tomorrow’s picnic as her +one😊, that was such a nice gesture!!! Ms. Sally THANK YOU so very much🙏🏽 and for being the ONLY person who have talked to me. I have visited so many different Catholic churches in different States (including New Orleans’ Cathedrals) and other countries, but for the first time in a church I have never felt so uncomfortable :( . Hopefully the next visitor would have a better experience because saying “Hello and Welcome” does not cost much!!! Maggie
