We googled and saw this was a top rated restaurant so decided to try it. The wait was about 20 minutes, honestly not bad. All six of us really enjoyed our food, and our waiter Jack was great! Actually, the whole staff is extremely friendly. Pancakes seem to be popular here, and they were very tasty. If you like fluffy pancakes, you’ll love these. They were a bit too fluffy for my liking, but I still didn’t leave a crumb. Lol. *Oh, get the cheese grits. They were a hit.

Try the goetta! I’m from Florida and I have been through Lexington twice and both times had to stop at this place! It gets busy so get there early and/or plan for a little bit of a wait, but it’s worth it! Both times I’ve had really great servers! Super friendly! On my recent visit the coffee was a little weak, so when I got a refill I requested from a different pot to try it, but she decided to make a whole new pot a little stronger! I thought that was really nice of her. The food has always been delicious and the atmosphere is cozy even when it’s busy.

Breakfast is served all day! However, as excited as I was to learn this, there is one BIG and unfortunate caveat for my fellow omelette connoisseurs out there. And that’s this. Both the menu and the waitress explained that “Omelet preparation can NOT be changed during peak periods on Saturdays and Sundays” Meaning if you see an omelette but it has an ingredient you want to omit or add, there is no customizing on the weekends. Bummer. In spite of that, I gave the Veggie Omelet a try. It comes filled with fresh broccoli, roasted red peppers, onions, baby spinach, tomatoes and cheddar jack cheese. To me, the omelette was okay, it was just a tad undercooked. And I didn’t get that nutritious taste I was looking for from a veggie omelette. All omelets are served with breakfast potatoes or cheese grit casserole and a biscuit. The breakfast potatoes were fine but primarily filling. No distinct or outstanding seasoning to them. The biscuit was good. It was soft, fluffy, and a little buttery. Overall the food got the job done, but I would be more inclined to try something else on the menu than reorder what I had. For the dining room, there is a unique layout. Plenty of spacious booths for families and groups. The cool and unexpected design fixture was the large horseshoe shaped counter near the entrance. Although unique, I wouldn’t recommend sitting there if you’re anywhere close to six feet tall. That’s because the counter overhang was fairly shallow. You almost have to take a horse stance to sit comfortably. Irony Overall, Josie’s is a family friendly neighborhood restaurant that offers common American bites at fair prices.
