Dr. Adunka has been a miracle worker for my husband (late 50s in age). Three years ago, he was diagnosed with an unusual tumor growing in his cochlea. As the tumor grew, he became deaf in that ear and struggled with being in places with more than minimal noise. As surgery became more imminent due to the growth of the tumor, the projected outcome was rather pessimistic as the recommended approach was to remove his entire cochlea– resulting in never being able to hear with that ear and possibly life- long and constant vertigo. It was then that he approached Dr. Adunka for a second opinion. It was immediately obvious that Dr. Adunka is incredibly knowledgeable about the inner ear and had a much more progressive surgical approach. He was reassuring, confident, kind, very compassionate about improving quality of life and provided a much more optimistic outcome. He was positive that his approach could remove the tumor and not have to remove the entire cochlea. Plus, he went “above and beyond” to also get approval to implant a cochlear implant. His innovative surgical approach did end up presenting some challenges in the OR, but he and his highly trained surgical team found ingenious ways solve this challenge in “real time” during the surgery. Not only did this greatly benefit my husband, I am confident this leading-edge approach will benefit many future patients. He is an elite Otolaryngologist, brilliant surgeon, and truly cares about his patients and their families. We are so grateful for the miracle that Dr. Adunka enabled. My husband can now hear with that ear through his cochlear implant, is no longer bothered by noise, and quality of life has returned to pre-tumor days. Dr. Adunka is highly recommended for those needing an Otolaryngologist, as well as if there are uncommon issues with the inner ear.

Dr. Adunka is an amazing doctor. I would recommend him a thousand times over! He quickly saw what needed to be done in order to fix my 10 year old daughter's ear. He had a plan and talked us through any questions or concerns we had before and after surgery. He performed a tympanoplasty on my daughter, having to go behind her ear to correct her ear drum, canal, and bone. Before her surgery, she had mild to moderate hearing loss from a failed tympanoplasty by a different doctor. Now, three months after surgery with Dr. Adunka, she has minimal scarring, a whole new ear drum, and can hear within the normal range.
