I have my reservations and thank the lord I do not live there anymore. I have had two run ins with the police dept. the first was 10 years ago when my children were in my running vehicle for 10 minutes and my vehicle was moved and my son told me everything ( he is now 20 years old ). The officer moved my truck to the front of the hospital and said I “forgot” where I left it. Now recently my son was driving 1345 miles and went through Opelousas and was pulled over. He showed insurance but they still gave him a VERY hard time. Now the government is moving me back to work again in Louisiana and my only fear is running into this area and being harassed again. I will not be in Opelousas but will have to travel through. Pains me to know that the police dept has not changed in 10 years. I didn’t file a suit but I should have.

Police department sucks. They make false arrest warrants. And they do not care about evidence. Because they arrest people without evidence.

I am thankful for our police. But when I made a call to report a man in a truck who pulled over while I was with my mom and son and was staring at us in an empty lot we were walking by, he was stopping to pray on us, two police men came to where I live to find out what was going on, but I felt pressured and very uncomfortable by the police men. It was nothing serious, but we did not feel safe with a pick up truck with a man driving it pulling over and staring at us. I explained to police because of the high crime here and alot of black older men wondering around the streets, praying on women, womanizers taking advantage of any woman they can we don't feel safe. Opelousas is 93% African American, so I see 99.9% of men walking the streets are black. That's not racists, it's facts. When I sad that there are a lot black men wondering the streets, there was 1 white officer & one black and I was corrected by the white officer that there are alot of crimes by white men too. I did not know why I was being attacked and I did not respond. When the officers were leaving, the black officer laughed at me after the conversation was over. My daughter is white & black and my son is white & Latino, so race had nothing to do with my concerns. If it were predominantly white men or Hispanic men or asian men wondering around the streets behaving badly then it's no different. The police men were rude, disrespectful, because instead of safety being the issue, it was well let's roll our eyes and we'll act like we care. They acted very arrogant. They made it about race because they wanted to turn it against me. That' the last time I call the police for something like this again. Very disturbing!

My recently stolen phone has been tracked to someone's house. If my phone is no longer visible or is sold off, can I fine the owner/household of my phone's last known location? Personally I would think so because of association with stolen goods??

Come to the Police Department and file a complaint. Once the officer has the information he will be able to answer your question. Sorry about your phone.
