I was in Savannah for a work conference and a large group of us did this tour. Dawn was our guide and I thought she was amazing. She was extremely knowledgeable and very enthusiastic during the tour. She was a joy to talk to and I would definitely recommend her.

Hi Penny, Yes Bonaventure is pet friendly. Please make sure your dog is leashed and that you cleanup after your dog. Have a great time. Please stop by the Gift Shop, 500 ft from the entrance if you need a map.

Does it cost to drive through Bonaventure cemetery

Bonaventure Cemetery is open to the public from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. You are welcome to drive through on your own, however Bonaventure Cemetery is over 150 acres, so some guidance is very helpful. We offer the walking tours at 10 am & 2 pm, and we also offer excellent Illustrated Maps for sale at our Welcome Center & Gift Shop that we are happy to point out some highlights for you.

Walking or driving tour?

Stacy Hill | Nov 1, 2018

Both are available through separate tour companies, as the cemetery is owned by the city and doesn’t offer tours themselves. There is a shop just down the road that offers walking tours, and they are very knowledgeable. They also have maps, that no other place has, if you choose to venture alone. To me, if possible, walking tours are the best because you can get up close and truly have a great experience. Plan on spending some time there, as it is over 100 acres and absolutely beautiful.

Who committed suicide there because it was a beautiful place to die?

There have been several stories of people drowning in the river, but take a tour and find out. There's a Bonaventure Cemetery Tours Welcome Center right down the road, they can help you.
