I brought a car here to get the driver door fixed. It was slammed very hard by someone and the door was stuck and wouldn’t open. I brought the vehicle to Gustafson Body Shop as it was very close to where I was staying, I’m visiting family. They advised they would not be able to work on it until the following week. I advised that I was leaving town and this would leave my mother without a car to commute to her job. They agreed to take it in and work on it as they could whenever they had down time. In one day they assessed the issue and were able to repair the vehicle. It may have been a very small issue with the car door, but they saved my family and I, a world of hurt and headaches. The staff is so incredibly friendly and I find that they have EXTREMELY reasonable prices for the quality work they do. My family has lived in Mundelein since I can remember and we never have brought our vehicles for repair to Gustafson (3 boys who learn how to drive results in many wrecked cars in our family). My deepest regret is having Gustafson literally in my backyard for all these years and not once bringing a car to them for work. A+ service. I forgot the front of house guy’s name, but I am so grateful in this moment I would put him in my will.

I waited a couple months to post this. Honestly I knew it was good work from the day I got my car back. But wanted to see it on a sunny warm day all cleaned up. I have a special paint color from BMW. Not the easiest thing to match when doing repair work. It came out flawlessly. I am very critical of my cars. An absolute nut about them to be transparent. I have worked in the car business for 25 years and have worked with so many body shops and cars over the years so bottom line it would be extremely difficult to get something past me. From the quote to the day I picked it up everything was handled completely professional and service was off the charts. There was delay in parts but these days that is totally normal. They got everything together and were amazing about it. Shortages from manufacturing are common now and the way they handle it could not be better. Says a lot for something out of there control completely. The one thing that stood out is my insurance company was trying to push me to another shop local. Not going to mention names but beware you can take your car anywhere for repair. Insurance company will steer you to the cheapest option. You get what you pay for in my experience and the service was not even close there to what I experienced at Gustafson. I would 100% send my personal cars there for any repair and would have confidence sending a clients car there no question. Thank you to the team that got my car back to new. It looks amazing and you are exceptional at handling even the toughest of jobs. I have had 2 different car guys look at it and not believe there was a repair to the front end never mind an over 7,000 job. Thank you!

No. When you purchased your insurance policy, you signed a contract saying you will pay the first amount of the claim up to your deductible. Repairers should not be asked to hide the deductible. That practice would constitute fraud by both the collision center and consumer. The penalties for insurance fraud are severe. If a shop offers to save your deductible, they are absorbing that at your cost. They are not doing the said repairs in order to make up for your deductible. This could lead to unsafe and unsatisfactory repairs which will ultimately cost you at some point.
Payment is due at the time the auto body repair is complete. Please bring any insurance checks with you and your deductible – if you are going through insurance. If you want, you are able to simply sign the check over to us and do not need to deposit it into your account.
Your deductible is due when you pick up your vehicle. If you are expecting your deductible to be reduced or waived, we suggest you contact your insurance carrier and confirm prior to picking up your vehicle.
When the repairs are complete and you are satisfied with the repairs. The insurance check issued will be minus your deductible amount, if you have one. At the time you pick up your vehicle you will pay the deductible amount to the Gustafson Body Shop.
Subrogation is the process by which your insurance company pays for the repairs to your vehicle, and is obligated to collect from another insurer or party. Your collision coverage will require you to pay your deductible, which may be refunded once the other party pays.
The insurance company will assign an appraiser to inspect the vehicle to determine its condition prior to the accident.
LKQ – (Like Kind & Quality). These parts are more commonly referred to as used parts. These parts generally come from automotive salvage yards. Salvage yards purchase damaged or totaled vehicles, remove the good parts and sell them as LKQ parts. All LKQ parts are inspected for prior damage, rust, and to make sure they are OEM and not Aftermarket.
These are parts not made by your vehicle manufacturer. They are also known as Quality Replacement Parts (QRP). Aftermarket parts are much cheaper than OEM parts and might not have the same fit and function as OEM parts.
Original Equipment Manufactured (OEM) is a term for parts made by the manufacturer of your vehicle.
If you were not at fault and the repair is going through the other party’s insurance, then you will not have a deductible. A deductible is determined at the purchase of your insurance premium and can range anywhere between $50 and $3,000. If the repair is going through your insurance policy, then the cause of the accident will determine the deductible amount. Ask your insurance company or go through your policy to find out.
Claim numbers are issued by your insurance company at the time you report your accident. Make sure to write it down and bring it with you when you come in to begin the repair process; we’ll do the rest.
We do everything in our power to ensure your vehicle is back to pre-accident condition as your vehicle leaves our Mundelein auto shop. If you notice anything that doesn’t seem right or experience any problems, please do not hesitate to give us a call or stop back in.
