Hello Mary, Currently our applications are closed at the moment so we can serve our current applicants in a timeline manner. We will update our website when we do open them back up- we are hoping to open them back up in a few months. Our qualifications for a hearing dog are as follows: - 65 decibels of hearing loss or greater. - Over the age of 18 years old. - No other dogs in the home (inside or outside) - Physically, financially, and mentally able to care for a dog. - Priority is given to people who live on their own. People who live with multiple other people are on a case by case basis. Let us know if you have any other questions!
International Hearing Dog, Inc. was created in Colorado in 1979 and since then we have placed over 400 hearing dogs in Colorado and about 1,400 in all 50 states and Canada. This number keeps growing as we are doing placements every couple of weeks. International Hearing Dog has also helped start other hearing dog programs in Australia, Norway, and Japan.
