This place is racist and unprofessional! The staff does not care about the patients. They will talk about the sick patients and make jokes. God is not in this facility. Run.

If you want to get the worst, most pretentious service from an eating disorder treatment facility that makes you feel sick come here! A pity, because the view is beautiful! The management of this establishment has absolutely no consideration for the patients when I was there! It’s almost as if they treated us like Ginny pigs to try out different methods of what they call “treatment”. I had a terrible most awful therapist, it’s almost like a place were they train people, and using us as experiments. There were FEW very FEW good staff there, but I’m talking two or three. But almost all the good staff were quitting because they were treated awful as well. I experienced cruel treatment from staff mentally, physically, and emotionally. The staff treated us girls like a burden although of course we didn’t want to be there. Please, anyone who is interested in the slightest way of coming here, I Warn you from bottom of my heart….this place will cause more damage mentally then you came in with. Anyone seeking treatment for yourself or for a loved one please find somewhere else.

Admitted my 15 year old daughter for anorexia to Canopy 5 years ago and had a horrible experience. This facility was out of network but we wanted my little girl in an all adolescent girls facility that focused on eating disorders and we had spoken several times with Donda and she just sold us on it. Repeatedly, telling us not to worry about the $38,000 out of pocket that she knew ways to get our insurance to cover most of the cost. Needless to say, we traveled 3 states away and admitted my baby and as soon as I wrote the check Donda began ghosting me. No help whatsoever from anyone at Canopy, especially Donda regarding insurance. I was lucky enough to get about $5k back from our health insurance nearly a year after my child served her time all due to my persistence in pursuing it and the tender heart of the lady at insurance. I referred to my child’s treatment as “time” due to its similar to a prison sentence. Horrible food, cold showers, unfriendly prison guards, very limited communication with parents, and very limited visitation and it was based on good behavior/progress. Oh, and my daughter exited the program with a new eating disorder. Btw, Donda is one of the owners so this woman is a disgraceful human being. I did see a review mentioning new ownership but I strongly suggest if you have a “Donda” calling you & selling you on admissions that you steer clear. No family in the midst of this struggle should be mislead and subjected to this. Promise I would have a different opinion had my daughter at least benefited from treatment but it was nothing but a $33,000 bust for my family.

We had a terrible experience here. My 15 year old daughter was anorexic and in bad health and we wanted the best treatment for her. My insurance wouldn’t cover it since it is considered mental health so I had one of the owners that was speaking to my wife & I while we were best determining treatment centers. The owner was great on the phone and spoke of ways we could get the insurance to pay for a some of the treatment costs but when we drove the 8 hours there they assessed my daughter and really scared us by saying her health was critical and she needed to be admitted immediately. My entire family is crying while they have someone stand over me to write the $40,000.00 check for 30 days of treatment in advance. I asked for the owner that I had been speaking with the two weeks prior and she was no where to be found. Needless to say, I broke the bank & got my baby admitted only for her to be miserable and exit the program bulimic. A few days before her time was up the owner resurfaced and called me stating that she really needs to be in for another 30 days. Of course, no help from Canopy on getting my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance to pay anything towards anything. My insurance contact informed me Canopy should have never told me that. Cannot recall the owners name but she is evil and I strongly suggest you send your child elsewhere. All My child got for $40k was a different eating disorder. Please avoid my mistake and I desperately don’t want another family to have this experience. Avoid Canopy Cove - Tallahassee.

Questions & Answers

What are the meals like and thr food options? Do the patients have any say and also dietary medical restrictions are they taken into account?

They serve only highly processed food, all pre packaged. If you have proof of a dietary restriction they will respect that, but otherwise you sit at the table all day until your plate is clean, whatever it is
