Normal. Fast and nice pleasant experience.

Worst experience ever. Racist, rude and impatient. I wouldn’t recommend coming to this office.

They never have enough clerks at the front windows. Very often the line is out to the building 's entrance. It seems as if there isn't a sense of of urgency to clear the line.

I think you have up to a year after it expires to renew it, but you should do an internet search to be certain.
I know the USPS puts mail in the POBox 10 minutes before the customer picks it up from the Box. If you don't see any mail in the Box, either you don't have any mail that day or they didn't get to your Box yet. Just wait a few hours or a day and you will see mail in that Box, it works every time and 10 out 10 times worked for me. I think it will work for you too.
Yes, tell the clerk at the window and they will help you.
Yes, you just have to fill out a temporary hold form at the post office. You may be able to do it on their website online also.
Contact the Post Office and put in a complaint
You can reserve one online. Each post office has their own set of prices depending on location of post office and size of box. So for example a size 1 box in Woodbury might cost more or less than the same size box in Jericho. Not all sizes are available at each post office either which is why you reserve online first. Payments are billed every 3, 6, or 12 months, depending on what you choose. Hope this helps!
Same day delivery? E-mail or fax come to mind before the post office. USPS offers next day delivery but charges plenty for that. Perhaps a messenger service could meet your schedule, depending how far your document needs to travel, but I doubt USPS can meet your requirement.
There is a help wanted sign on their lawn by the front door. I'm sure there's a process you need to work through. You might try a face to face meeting with the local postmaster to seek advice.
Yes, sort of. They'll put a card in your box announcing to you that you have a certified letter.. You have to go to the counter to sign for the letter. They'll give you the letter after they've collected your signature.
