I'm taking NP thyroid for about a year and I'm doing very well on it! Yes, the frequent recalls have been scary. I hope the manufacturing issues will be a thing of the past, many of us rely on NDT for life . . .

Third recall in less than a year and after multiple calls and emails being told one story after the other I’m now told they can’t do anything about replacing the defective medication I have. First it was that they would send out replacement medications, then it was that my pharmacy would replace it, then they said they would talk to my pharmacist and insurance, then they say their policy is not to replace but to “refund” the cost. The “cost” to me for the medications was zero at the time, if you don’t count the cost I incurred to have health insurance to have it covered. Now my copay is increased, and I have no buffer of medications since I had to scramble to get new meds when I found out mine were in the recall batch. Im out three months of meds because of their “recall policy” and hours of my time trying to jump through their hoops. And as someone else has mentioned, is there no consideration or compensation for patients who have been under medicated due to their continued quality check issues?! This is a serious health issue and they have no concern for their customers.

Two recalls within 5 months. I forgave the first. Now, I am three months into my bottle of NP Thyroid and it is recalled again! I've been feeling all the symptoms of low thyroid, no wonder! And Acella's solution is for us to call and sit on hold for hours to verify we got a bad batch (which is listed by the FDA and yes, listed on my bottle, so yes, I got the bad batch). Terrible customer service. Since the second recall took another 3 months now I realize this is why I feel crummy. How did you not fix it after the first recall, Acella? And yeah, we pay for their mistake with no refund. Return the medicine after I've taken most of it over the course of three months? This is ripe for a class action lawsuit if you ask me. Boo, Acella.

I got terribly sick from NP Thyroid and was quickly put on a different NDT hormone by my doctor. Then, two pharmacies called about the recalled NP Thyroid. I realized that the 30 mg NP Thyroid was the recalled medication I had taken. I threw them out. Later, I found out that the company is required to reimburse patients for recalled meds, but they will not do it unless you can return the medication. I would not recommend this company.
