Campsites a little closer than we like. Lots of deer flies. Lake access close by. Far away from town and everything. We passed.

Not for us...but it may be just the ticket for locals looking to get together in the "woods." We are used to camping in the Superior National Forest but wanted to try something a little closer. This said "primitive" and is in the way that untended land is primtive. This place does not seem well cared for and it was a bummer. There is such little tree coverage in and around the (extremely close) campsites that I can actually see about 20 sites from our site. We strategically parked the truck and pop up to create a sense of privacy but the paved road to civilization is within earshot and eyesight through the pines surrounding the campground. There is a narrow sandy beach reaching out about 20ft to the side of the dock. The rest of the shore was marsh. The swimming beach was unmarked but since the only cleared spot was next to the dock and boat ramp we just tried to share the space as best we could. The water was clean and pretty shallow to the end of the dock (7yo could jump off and still touch). Campground was easy to find and most of the unappealing parts are just a personal preference kind of thing.

Yes I believe they are to be leashed at all times.
That's awsome. I am not sure if / when my excursion will happen. But thank you very much
