Yes, they do help ppl In a tough situation, but not ongoing assistance... LIHEAP gives better help with gas and electric, BUT, you MIGHT be able to get help at the SA ( it's also a process), & it's NOT overnight, depends on their funding availability... But definitely will not find help at the thrift store, you must make an appointment at one of their local "family centers." In Aurora, it's on Galena & Root Streets. They can help with different crisis situations, fire, flood, eviction, & utility bill but it's not guaranteed and you must call to make an appointment with intake and go from there... And again, there aren't any guarantees for help!

No, no Salvation Army thrift stores are accepting used mattresses... Very few places do anymore, otherwise I'd suggest somewhere else to take it but I honestly don't know of any where that accepts them anymore.... (Guess all the instances of ppl donating BED BUG INFESTED beds is one MAJOR reason)!! Now, why ANYONE with bed bugs would WANT to help infest someone else with that NIGHTMARE is beyond me!
