The Ashen Rose

It isn't gourmet, but it is always great. My wife and I "discovered" The Ashen Rose about a year ago and have been back nearly monthly since. We live about 35 minutes away, but it is always worth the trip. When family comes in to visit we always try to squeeze in a trip. The worst food and service we had there was during a bike race they had a few weeks back. Had we known in advance that there was an event that day, we wouldn't have gone. That being said, the service was still satisfactory and the food was still good! We just love the place. My wife loves the "Deluxe Fried Bologna" sandwich. So much so that she has me try to duplicate it at home on occasion. The Cobb salad doesn't disappoint, but my favorite is the Fuji Apple Spinach salad. On cheat days I like the fish and chips. The fish is cod; they don't try to sneak catfish or tilapia in on you like many places these day that don't define "fish." The burgers and cheesesteak are a coin-toss selection where you'll come out a winner either way. For a small-town bar, the draught beer selection is impressive. The choices have ranged from an interesting mix during supply-chain issues to downright great most of the time. My teenage son likes to go there on Saturday outings with dad to play shuffleboard and pool and eat the pepper jack cheese squares and drink Root Beer.

Great place. The new waitress Kaylee is a great addition. Ashley and Maria are always great aswell. Good food and beer selection. Usually a fun time
