I was concerned when my dentist of 20+ years retired and I had to find a new dentist that was as good as the top notch dentistry I had been used to. I am super happy with the excellence of the entire practice, dental hygienist, and office staff has always exhibited that is always caring and professional. They have the best and newest dental equipment always upgrading every time I come in for a periodic examination. Dr. Stelzer and his entire group are very knowledgeable and know how to put you at ease. The reception area is relaxing, receptionist/staff and layout of the offices is warm and inviting - super cool art, stuffed couches, and bright and sunny space ... to the latest in reclining examining chairs. Highly recommended for all age groups. You will leave with a big white smile!

Dr. Stelzer and the rest of the staff in the office are fantastic. Dr. Stelzer spent the time necessary to make sure the crown he was placing on my implant matched perfectly with the rest and explained every step throughout the process. I cannot thank them enough for their thorough work and would highly recommend Stelzer Dental to anyone!

What causes periodontal diseases?

Stelzer Dental | Mar 30, 2022
Stelzer Dental | Mar 30, 2022

Poor oral hygiene. But more specifically, plaque is the primary cause of periodontal disease. Plaque is a buildup of harmful bacteria and acids. When this plaque isn't removed due to poor oral hygiene and/or avoiding professional dental cleanings, it hardens and turns into calculus. This causes gingivitis, an irritation and inflammation of your gums. If left untreated, gingivitis turns into periodontitis, causing pockets between your teeth and gums that fill with bacteria. Contact us if you're due for a cleaning or think you have periodontal disease.

What is the best way to whiten my teeth?

Stelzer Dental | Mar 30, 2022
Stelzer Dental | Mar 30, 2022

The short answer: Professional tooth whitening by a dentist. Why? It'll work better than store-bought or DIY methods. Professional teeth whitening removes intrinsic (internal) and extrinsic (surface) stains, which means whiter, even, and longer-lasting results. It's also customized to you, including your sensitivity and desired shade of white. Contact us to book a teeth whitening appointment: https://www.stelzerdental.com/contact/

What is the difference between plaque and calculus?

Stelzer Dental | Oct 26, 2021
Stelzer Dental | Oct 26, 2021

When plaque isn't removed (often caused by a lack of brushing or visiting the dentist for a cleaning), it hardens and turns into calculus. Another word for calculus is tartar. Unlike plaque, tartar cannot be removed by brushing or flossing. It's strongly bonded onto your teeth and must be removed by a dental hygienist. Otherwise, it may lead to tooth decay (cavities) and gum diseases.
