I waited 6 weeks to get an appointment. I arrive, the receptionist checked me in. I waited a few mins, get called back. I'm told there's NO doctor there to do contact fittings until further notice. They definitely asked me what I was there for. But waited to tell me until I got there and was in the exam area. They asked me upon making the appointment what I was looking for. No courtesy call to let me know so I'm not wasting my time?

I went to Visionworks to obtain a contact lens prescription. The staff in Watertown are courteous and friendly. Appointment times are not kept. I waited 45 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. Everything is automated and computerized. No doctors are present in the room. Everything is done remote via internet. They use a pool a doctors that are all operating from a remote location. The doctor is on a TV screen on a video call. The doctor controls all of the adjustments remotely. When they lose connection, you lose your doctor and have to wait for a different doctor to come online. Trial contact lenses take around 2 weeks to arrive at the store but sometimes the store does not contact you to let you know they arrived. After 2 appointments, and seeing two different doctors via the internet, the contact lens prescription was still not correct. When I demanded a full refund, they informed me that the request would have to go to their corporate office and could take up to 10 business days. It took 3 weeks.

So the techs and service people were awesome. Don’t remember any names but they were all great. If you’re afraid of having a virtual appointment, don’t be. Very very straightforward and better in my opinion than seeing an actual doctor. Up to date technology and testing. Only reason I’m giving it three stars was because of the wait. I had enough time to read all the google reviews and write this out during my wait. Roughly 45 minutes after scheduled time. I believe this is probably not their fault but possibly the doctors they are working with being behind. On the bright side, all the techs are well informed about the machinery and there are some dope tests that take pictures of your eyes which I have never had done at an appointment anywhere else.

I've been here for an hour after arriving 15 minutes early while multiple patients have been admitted before me while arriving after me. There was an issue with my insurance so preferential treatment has been given. Then they refused to send me a bill and demanded payment even though you have a 3 month period to backdate healthcare bills. I have a class D restriction on my license. There are better places to get healthcare than empire, never had a problem with Walmart vision center.
