At first impression I thought dinner would be pretty good. The building is neat and things were fairly clean. The service was ok and mostly friendly however I just didn’t think the food had much flavor. I’m a BBQ guy that has eaten smoked meats all over the country from some of the best smokehouses there are. This smoked meat doesn’t belong in the same category. I wasn’t totally mad about the food but the bill price did not reflect the quality we actually received. Then comes the part that really upset me. I don’t live in town. I live over 60 miles away. The last time I was in town I was passing through over 7 years ago. I dropped my credit card I guess and when I called they refused to send it back. They would “hold it as long as necessary”… they did not seem to understand I’m not driving 60 miles to get a credit card with $4 a gallon gas when they could drop a $0.50 stamp on an envelope and send it to me so now I have to report it missing and get a new card sent to me. Their whole attitude about the subject just really irritated me to the core. If I find myself in that wretched town again, I won’t get dinner there.

Wooden Nickel was a treat! The staff was awesome! Our server was new but did a great job! He was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had the stuffed mushroom caps they were delicious! I had the eggplant parmigiana and it was perfect! My favorite place to eat in Kirksville now!
