We had a cat show up in our yard and we didn't want to just let it wonder the neighborhood and get pregnant. So we went down there and even though we didn't have an appointment they were gracious enough to let us in and take the cat. Hope she finds a good family to adopt her. Update 9-11-22: TNR program is going now and so needed! We trapped our first cat. 5 more to go. 🤞

The city shelter is run like a rescue. Many of the animals are there for months, while they look for a perfect home, while the pet sits in a small enclosure. Most of the animals come in as strays that were running in town, and most are pitbull or pitbull mixes. They do not have an application online and one has to sit with staff to go over the application. Then one waits for days while they decide who, if anyone, will be able to adopt a pet. I would choose a nearby city for better results. Rate of return is higher than a neighboring shelter, despite the matching process. Find one that has an application online, and will place same day or next day, especially if you have children that are wanting the pet.

It is a no kill shelter. I'm not sure how they handles a really vicious animal.I think the cops do.I had a nice kitty adoption. They also are very very nice ladies.

There are actually pitbulls there when I went over the summer with my daughters girl scout troop over the summer. So all types of dogs are there and cats. I have some pictures up of the dogs that were there. When I went there at least 3 pits so as far as I know there aren't many restrictions depends on the dog.
