My Boyfriend called this morning ( Thursday September 15th 2022) in regards to acquiring a donated bicycle and the guy (Didn't give his name) was rude, crude and socially unacceptable. This person found our situation to be funny, which it is not. People like this DO NOT need to be dealing with the general public if rudeness is all they deem to demonstrate when speaking to the general public.

I first learned of the Salina Rescue Mission from a fellow inmate in the Saline County Jail back in 2014. At that time in my life I had been drifting away from all things that even remotely resembled good or sane for several years, and was at a breaking point. After a brief stay I was released and went home to collect some things, intent on going to the Mission. What I found when arriving at my apartment was that the locks had been changed and it had essentially been taken over by people who I previously believed were friends of mine. I was able to grab a few things that hadn't yet been sold or stolen and left, with very little idea of what to do next. I didn't know anything about where the Mission was located or what they did there until I showed up on their front door carrying everything I still owned, having been dropped off by a stranger. I was angry, alone, broken and scared. And I knew in my heart that there was nothing that anyone could do to help me. But this place went above and beyond my expectations during my time as a guest with them. The staff were kind, yet firm. They held themselves to their commitments and expected that I do the same while staying under their roof. I was provided with a safe place to rest and to store what little belongings I considered to be precious to me without fear of them being stolen. I was given free meals three times a day and provided with laundry service as well, according to their schedule. I joined their long-term Christ-centered discipleship (residency) program and was able to receive much needed counseling and some basic life-skills, all of which were based in Scripture, and helped to build the foundation I walk on today, not to mention a healthy education in Biblical studies that helped me secure a means of employment with the Rescue Mission! Fast forward to 2022. I am now living in a home that I was blessed to be able to purchase as my own. I will soon be celebrating my one year wedding anniversary with my beautiful wife, and am coming up on celebrating 6 years of ministry to men from all walks of life, who grace the door step of the Mission, daily. I'm here to tell you right now. The Salina Rescue Mission is NOT a 'homeless shelter'. It is a place that provides immense spiritual healing through the grace of Jesus Christ, and the love of the staff within its walls. Life at the Mission is not meant to be easy, and is not meant for everyone. But for those men who are willing to fully accept the structure and guidance that is provided there, true life transformation is waiting at the end of their journey.

Yes, they can get a shower, so long as that person is a man (biologically), due to the nature of the ministry there. And the meal program is open to the community. Lunch is served between 12:00pm and 12:45pm daily. To get dinner, be there by 6pm.
