Product and knowledge are excellent. Communications and customer service needs help. Need to make an appointment to see their door/decorative hardware people. Almost impossible to get in contact with that office and they rarely return messages. Finally was able to meet and make an order. We were told it would be 10-14 days. After four weeks we tried to contact the rep that made our order via phone and email. Did not return our contact attempts for several days. Finally got in touch with someone else and we were told our order was never placed. After a couple more days we were able to get in contact with the rep who originally serviced us. We were told we had never filled out the order forms or provided credit card info. After being able to prove we had, they admitted it was their oversight. To help make amends, they put a rush order on our items and waived the rush order fee. Once delivered, the process was easy and simple. Five stars for the actual product and the knowledge to assist us in selecting the items...one star for lack of communications and the failure to place our order in the first place.

I've been a longtime "Big Box Store" person relying on pine board for all my projects. I'm working on a furniture restoration project right now that requires something of higher quality than using pine. I looked around San Antonio at places who advertise hardwoods and found Allen & Allen. I think most of us don't look forward to a Friday afternoon trip into the heart of the city but, o assure you, it's well worth the battles on 90, 35 and 10 to shop this store. When we arrived (Park in the main yard, not at the front door), it wasn't terribly busy and the staff was extremely helpful. They offer a large variety of hard and soft woods at very reasonable prices. I picked up 15 linear feet of hard maple (1x6) for $54. If you're looking for lumber for your project and are tired of the bug box stores (and want to support locally owned businesses), take the drive downtown to Allen & Allen Co.

Showroom now open to public. Go to place for mouldings and wood. Faster than I thought it would be!

Great variety of furniture grade wood, great staff. Eddie, George, and Sam were friendly, customer-focused, and everyone I met who works there has a heart for providing great service! They even picked out the best red oak boards for me while I was paying up at the cashier.

They have a good supply of various pulls and hinges. As for being antique, I suggest you make a visit to the store. See salesman Vincent.
