Was looking forward to adopting and taking home a buddy today and give them a new home. Looked on the website for business hours and current animals to adopt. Found everything I needed. Or so I thought. Ended up driving 30 mins out of my way to the shelter just to find a sign on a closed gate saying it’s appointment only. Cool fine whatever, but maybe you should put that on your website? It’s 2021, it’s the digital era, let’s get with it. Anyway, I figured I’d call the number off the sign. No answer. Called 2 more times. No answer. Mind you, the business hours state it closes at 6pm. I’m currently doing this review at 5:45. Won’t be giving this shelter my business and I wish the best for all the animals here. They deserve better.

Great shelter!--They don't let people adopt on a whim. All the animals seem happy and healthy. The people who work there are very caring and tend to be very knowledgeable about each individual animal currently in their care. Highly recommended.

I found my best friend here. She is the smartest dog I have ever had.I will go back & try to find a blue staffshire terrier ( purebred pitbull ) eventually.

Animal Shelter at Oak Ridge has pet adoption half off today
All the animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, tested for heartworms or Felv/FIV and treated for fleas/ ticks before they go home. Each of these things have a cost associated with them. Although some of the animals are sponsored making the cost $55.
I don't think so but I'm not sure
Anderson County animal shelter has info on relocating animals
Do you have pictures?
The dog is brought to the shelter, scanned for a microchip, and vaccinated for distemper/ parvo/ brdetella. We then keep it in quarantine for two weeks. If no one claims the dog it is then put on the adoption floor.
