Great place to get a quality hat. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I will be going back for more!

Even though relocated this is a classic Detroit as it gets. Biggie was a fan. This isn't a costume shop, these are excellent hats anyone can spot from a mile away. I opted for a classy sailors hat seeing as I was headed to Sinbads. Stop in,. You may walk away with a great hat playboy.

I was very excited to visit this shop. I drove an hour from my home to check it out. I have a couple of hats at home, but I wanted one from a legitimate shop with a history of industry service. I was disappointed. I thought maybe they'd measure my head, make recommendations based on my stature and style. They told me that I should just try on a " large" and never mentioned a hat size. I tried on 2 hats, ended up paying $93 for a paper hat that matches the quality of the one I got from Target for $20. Look, I get paying a fair price for a quality product. THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT THE HAT INSTEAD OF LEAVING EMPTY HANDED (or headed, I should say). I'm no prince, I don't need to be pampered. I just thought that a business like this with a good reputation and a history of specialized experience would have helped me find the best hat for my head. They did not. The salesperson was apathetic and didn't seem to care if I found anything at all to my liking. I just had such high hopes, maybe I set myself up for disappointment. I might go back to overpay for another hat, but only if I can't find one I like at Walmart first, because this shop offered me all the old-world charm and specialization of a Shoe Carnival.

We no longer carry the Scala Brand Derby. Our Henry The Hatter Fur-Felt Derby is currently priced at $165.00, while the Christy Bowler is currently $225.00. These prices are good through the end of August 2021.
Great location
HENRY THE HATTER is still open in the Eastern Market, and in Southfield. The Broadway Street Store, and the Hamtramck store are closed. The big news in August of 2017 was that the store was closing as the lease for the building we were in for 65 years would not be re-signed. We were closed for a 4 month period while looking for a new home in Detroit.
We do carry the Campaign Hats, call the store for sizes. If it is not on the shelf, I can order it and have it in a week or so. Joe Renkiewicz - Henry The Hatter
Unfortunately, We do not make custom visored caps. We do some customization on felt hats, but it is limited to ribbons, hat bands and shaping.
Stetson and Dobbs are costly caps less costly. They have sale going on check them out.
It goes by what color hat you are using it on. Dark color hats, Grey, Black, Navy, Brown, dark brush. Light grey, White, Cream, or Tan, light bristle brush.
I don't remember a wide selection of them🤔
Basic Clean & Block Service starts at $25.00. This would be for Fur-Felt, Beaver, or Velour finishes. If the hat is Wool, we would have to see it before we can offer a price.
