Update: a new path has been created to get to the base of the falls. I didn't see it until I was heading back up, but I marked it with a metal brace (pictured, looks kind of like an F) and there's also some balanced stones nearby. So much easier go go down this way especially when it's muddy! Gorgeous hike. Small parking lot and narrow road to the trailhead. Wear good shoes. A rope takes you to the base of the falls so be careful and go at your own risk. You can also go above the falls, but again be careful.

Very well established trail and easy to find trailhead. Google's driving directions to the trailhead is accurate. Pretty sights to see.

A little less than an hour. Very worth it!
It's just under 2 miles to the top where it breaks into the old sunset campground. So 4 miles round trip. Pretty steep incline in parts especially after the waterfall to the campground. I think I recorded 3.71 miles my last time I hiked it. About 1100 feet incline. I see kids all the time but I don't know how long they go.
I hiked that trail last week. Snow on the ground about a quarter mile till big waterfall. Water running fast, partially frozen.
You can also drive up to what used to be sunset campground and go to the very bottom of the campground where you will find a sign that says Farmington Creek Trail.
Yeah there is. You can follow it all the way up
It depends. There are several wrecked cars along the way. If you go beyond the falls, you reach a closed campground and eventually the road that the cars fell off of.
