Electronic prescribing describes the transmission of a prescription to a pharmacy via a secure electronic portal. Electronic prescribing does NOT include faxing a prescription image to the pharmacy.
The law/rules haven't changed relating to prescription transfers.
We assume that you are referring to the drug's expiration/beyond-use date (as opposed to the prescription's expiration date), the pharmacy is not required to include that information on the label. That said, if the pharmacy is going to put a drug expiration/beyond-used date on the label, a one-year maximum expiration dating is more appropriate than using the manufacturer's stock bottle date. USP standards recommend no more than one year, assuming the manufacturer expiration date isn't sooner. If the manufacturer's expiration date is less than one year, the pharmacy should use that date on the label and not the one year.
The Board of Pharmacy does not require continuing education for pharmacy technicians. You would need to contact the national certification entities regarding continuing education for pharmacy technicians.
