Very nice ,friendly, helpful employees. Clean and well kept. Animals all looked healthy and happy as far as being in a shelter. I highly recommend checking this place out.

I surrendered my dog because I was told they would find her a family, even though she needed to be an only dog with a lot of activity. 24 days later they call saying they are going to put her down. We quickly found a wonderful family to take her and when I called to tell them, the director said he would not allow her to be adopted and what horrible dog she was???? I then went in to reclaim her, saving her life, and they charged me $280+ to save her???? Adoption Center - NO A KILL CENTER!! Now the dog is with a beautiful family being spoiled rotten on acres of land and living a beautiful life. Please don’t take your pets here. Ever!

Terrible. I was going to sugar coat it, but why? Everyone was mean. Not only to me but also my children I brought in. Who happen to be a HUGE part of the process of adding a new family member. I had three dogs. Out 14 year old mastiff passed away. When I filled out the application, I was asked about her. Not once but three times. Three times I had to repeat my pet passed away, in front of my kids. A little grotesque for a day we were thinking of adopting. Then we looked at a kitten. The rooms are the size of a bathroom, and he went into the room with us, and STAYED. Scowling at my two children and myself. The kids tried to play with the kitten, and he got in them! We left. We did not, and will not adopt from this place. It's terrible because I love the idea of adoption, but the people and environment are definitely standing in the way of them getting a home. Horrible experience, and we left upset.

Why aren't adoptable dogs on here?

Phyllis Mulford | Oct 25, 2019
Donnie Miller | Oct 25, 2019

Are adoptable dogs are on petharbor and Petfinder and our links to those on the Saint Charles County website.

IN THE NEWS: although the license at the Love 'N' Care Pet Farm was pulled, the health depart. said all the dogs could return to this place IF the violations are addressed! knowing abt the abuse & torturous lives of these dogs. How can this happen?

We should all get together and take them. Makes me

Do you take ferel cats

Angie Davis | Oct 25, 2019
Lydia Howard | Oct 25, 2019

You'd be surprised what socializing can do for cats. I am one of the volunteers who socializes the cats for the shelter. usually once they go back after I'm finished with them they're just like any other cat that's been loved. The feral ones definitely make good barn cats though. Oh, and to answer you question, Angie, yes they do take feral cats.

We are moving and my niece has a 7 month old kitten. I can't bring the cat with us and she can't bring it with her to her new place. Are you taking kittens?

They are, yes.

I found a little white dog in the rain shivering this morning. I walked it around my neighborhood hoping someone would recognize it. No collar or tags. I can't keep it all weekend. Where can I take it?

Gail Slater | Oct 25, 2018
Lydia Howard | Oct 25, 2018

They only euthanize if the animal is aggressive or is in care too long. I go in almost weekly and they have had some dogs on the floor waiting for their forever homes for months. They will check the dog for microchipping and contact the owner, if they find records on the dog. They will take great care of it.

My neighbor moved out of state and left behind two kittens. I haven't seen the mom so I assume they took her. I can't keep these sweet guys as my landlord doesn't allow cats. Are you accepting cats right now?

Casey Booth | Oct 25, 2018
Lydia Howard | Oct 25, 2018

They usually are. Your best bet is to bring them in and see. They open at 10 every day except Sunday, I believe.

I have an extra used dog crate. Can i drop it off so it will go to someone who needs it ?

P Hastings | Oct 25, 2018
Jessica | Oct 25, 2018

I bet it will be. They gave me toys for a new adoption and if they had a large crate, I am sure they would have provided that as well. Crates are pricey so that would be a great gift for someone who has a newly adopted dog.
