We got take out consisting of fried chicken liver/gizzards with brown gravy on the side.. was NOT charged extra for the brown gravy like golden skillet.. our sides were mashed potatoes- butter beans- pickled beets-and potato salad and all were cooked to perfection.. tea comes with meals- made just right.. if I could make one request instead of hushpuppies coming with meals make it either biscuits or rolls as a choice. Our daughter got a cheeseburger and fries and she enjoyed her burger. Oh and prices are very affordable. Will definitely be back! By the way we come all the way from Halifax County VA.

We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. The place was half full - busy, but not swamped. Several tables had not been cleared. We sat down and waited… and waited… and waited. Of the 4 waitresses that were working, two were obviously busier than the others trying to take care of all the tables. The other two were attempting to manage drinks but really just catered to a few tables. The food was good - Not the best BBQ (I am a vinegar bbq gal) but not the worst. The worst part was that they charged us the price of soft drinks for our cups of water. Had we known that, we probably would have ordered actual drinks. But regardless - since the two drink gals couldn’t manage more than serving the regulars, it wouldn’t have mattered. I do prefer local businesses over chains, particularly in the bbq scene, but the staff here need to step up their game to compete with the chain outfit in town from a service perspective.

I give this place a 5 because they are locally owned and been around a long time. All the food had great flavor and was cooked properly. Potato salad was excellent, tasted like it had some honey mustard in it! Only complaint I have is all the food that should have been hot was just luke warm. Mashed potatoes and gravy didn't even melt the butter. First visit there and we will be back.
