I am a boarder/worker here at the stables at lake St. Louis! I moved my horse here during the summer so when school started I knew that my horse would be well taken care of and it has been an amazing experience! I love having the indoor area open at anytime to ride and have fun with my horse (play tag), being able to come up whenever I’d like during hours open, grazing my horse, and being able to work here and being closer to my horse! Hank loves it here and I do too! My little sister and cousin love it here too, very kid friendly! Everyone here is just so welcoming and sweet! Thank you so much Crystal and Mike for letting me board and work here I love it!!

We love seeing all the new riders and borders at the Stables. The new instructors have been a great addition to the facility.

****UPDATE*** - Within 5 minutes of posting, I've already received a voicemail from Crystal saying 'how dare I slander her and that her lawyer will be in contact'. I can handle this, but save yourself the headache. _____________ I'm really upset to be writing this review, but I started private lessons here last fall after my mom passed away to reconnect with a hobby I loved as a child. It was meant to be something to look forward to and a way for me to heal. There were few lesson horses to begin with, even less to accommodate my size - I'm 190 lbs, which I disclosed. I recognize the importance of horse safety, and want to reiterate that I was upfront about this and seemed to meet their weight limitations. As time went on, it became clear to me that I was not wanted as a client. My lessons were frequently canceled, citing lame horses. My instructor was changed without my knowledge (she turned out to be a good fit, but nonetheless I was shocked when they showed up). I was thrown into semi-private lessons with children without being asked, and their online scheduling system was an absolute mess. Then came the whispers about my weight. I was told that the owner implied I was responsible for making some of the horses lame. I am incredibly gentle when getting on the backs of these horses because I am self aware. I was so shocked. I signed up for this barn thinking it was a bit more laid back and inclusive than others, but I feel I was wrong. Crystal could not refund me quick enough to get me off her roster of clients, despite my plea to try and make something work before resorting to that. I would not recommend lessons here. This has really set back my self confidence and stained something I loved so much. I give it two stars because the facilities are lovely if you are considering boarding, but I would absolutely not take lessons.

Very happy to see new owners and improvements to the property! Living near the stables, it is very, very refreshing to have new owners/neighbors. I’m not a horse person, but I might go buy a horse now just so I can ride it around and “park it” nearly in my back yard! Start riding to Walgreens, the farmers market, and such! I have to check into this! To the NEW OWNERS… congrats on your great progress and improvements. Looking forward to meeting and possibly parking my horse there :)
