The bouncer accused me of being intoxicated when I was absolutely sober. I explained to him that I was okay and only was emotional because I was uncomfortable and needed to find my friends. His coworker also tried to reason with him. He still refused to let me back in with no logical explanation as to why.

UIUC staple bar. The floors are wet, the music is loud, the people are rowdy. The drinks are ok, the specials are nice, and senior night is always a plus. If a true college dive bar is not your speed steer away from Lion.

They can be aggressive when kicking people out I've heard. They can be very quick to kick people out also. Like a friend got pushed and spilled a drink on a bouncer's shoes and got removed from the bar for being "too drunk."
I was stationed at Chanute AFB in Rantoul 1968 and 1969 before being deployed to Vietnam. I lived off base at Hessel Park apartments in Champaign. At that time Stake & Shake was on the opposite corner and was the place to cruise. The Red Lion was a great place to drink and have fun. Don't feel bad, I once got thrown out for getting into a fight. That was a long time ago. They called me Kenny Cuda, because I had a Plymouth Barracuda. Good Memories...
Usually 18, unless there is a special event that requires them to raise it to 21. The city will sometimes do a temporary ordinance for things like unofficial.
