They should post mark things the day you send them, if they are open. If something has to be postmarked by a certain day, be sure to try to send it before that day, as nothing is ever guaranteed.

To my knowledge, I have neither heard nor seen an attendant there using a phone. Your best bet would be to go in or ask a friend to go in for you. Or you can directly ask here.

30 days max is all the post office have room for, after that you must temporary forward your mail. Or you can have a friend pick up your mail and check on your place, or rent a po box to forward your mail to. You can do it all on the post office website.

Do you get priority mail so you can track it? If you did you can claim that thru the post office website, and they will track it down. If not have you use the online resources to help you, but with out a tracking number it's hard to see what happen and where the break down is.
It depends on the suze of the package. If it fits in a Priority Mail box, it's about $15.00.
