Loved my visit at the community recently with my grandmother. Was able to have lunch with her and the food was great! So glad to know she's being taken care of especially since I'm not able to visit often. Thank you Claiborne!

Where do I start to express our gratitude for the above and beyond care our loved one received from The Claiborne? Our Mother/mother in law went in for respite care after knee replacement and difficulty with AFIB, urinary issues and sleeping patterns. The entire process from getting the information we needed, processing all necessary paperwork and getting her into the facility was at rapid speed. The furniture in the room was even considered and set up to accommodate her needs. The bed was turned completely around to another wall so she could get out and reach the bathroom at the shortest distance. She was allowed to bring her own recliner for comfort. The facility was immaculate and beautiful. Every meal was brought to her in her private room and she enjoyed each one. The staff often encouraged her to join others in the dining area for interaction and walking exercise. She was greeted with fresh fruit in her fridge and a candy bouquet upon arrival 💕 The nurses, staff, activity director and all others were very kind, caring and on top of things at all times . Very special thanks to Renee(executive director) and Michael Berthelot for embracing us with open arms and giving us all peace of mind that our special loved one was taken care of at all times. If we should ever need their services again, we will definitely return to The Claiborne. This all took place during Covid and we were very pleased with precautions taken and how smoothly they still managed to keep things flowing. Thank you Claiborne💕

My mom was there for Respite Care about 3 years ago while we went on vacation. We set it up for her to go back this year. My sister explained to The Claiborne employee that she was diagnosed with dementia and informed her of my mom’s ordinary behaviors. She was told that it wasn’t a problem and they could handle it. I live with my mom and these are her usual behaviors: Repetition of questions, staying in the bathroom for long periods of time, and always stating that she has to catch the train to go back home. At times, she will tell you exactly what is on her mind....there is no filter at this point. It’s a week before our trip, all paperwork, extra clothes/items purchased for her stay, med list, tests run and doctor’s visit completed, an assessment was just done at her home and she WAS REFUSED. Yes, my mom was upset when I explained the purpose of the ladies visit. I think in her mind, she thought that I was sending her to a nursing home permanently. She could not believe I would do something like that to her. Keep in my mind, this is an 85 year old dementia patient who requires memory care. My problems are: Are you not equipped to handle certain behaviors? Do you only want patients there who are heavily medicated so you can collect an easy check? When you are assessed at your job, is it on your worst day or is your overall performance considered? When the two ladies were at the house from The Claiborne, I explained to them that was abnormal behavior for her. I was not asked 90% of the questions,. I was told that they would answer them based off their observation. Yes, she was very upset. Maybe, you, as employees should be assessed for your observations on that ONE DAY that someone really ticks you off at work. In my opinion, the assessment should have been done BEFORE you had us to do everything we did for her to come there. Don’t tell us that it’s not a problem and you can deal with different behaviors beforehand and then realize you can’t. She is not even in the worst stages. Inasmuch as you do have a very nice facility, I will not recommend anyone to send their loved ones to you unless they can sit quietly and watch television. Please know that I HAVE and WILL CONTINUE to tell AS MANY PEOPLE as I can, about my extremely unpleasant experience I had with you. Also know that after my mom’s first visit, I sent patients to you!

Have a meeting with the staff to determine which of the 3 living areas would benefit her the best. The rooms are varying style small apartments based on their needs...so they will need their own bed, all furniture, trash cans/bags, towels, clothes, etc. Hope this helps
