Our barber went out of town and the girls next door at Magic Nails suggested I take my son here to get his hair cut for picture day in 2 days. I took my son in, the wait wasn’t long, the barber shop is a bit run down but that’s not super important to me. I told the barber I wanted my son’s hair a 1 on the sides and just a little bit longer on top but not much. All throughout cutting my son (5yo) was pretty still but vocally expressing some “is this almost done” kind of things. The barber seemed a little nervous cutting his hair, he was very hyper aware of my son wanting the haircut to be done, and that was making my son a little more anxious than normal. They kind of fed off each other, and the barber really rushed. In the end, the haircut was pretty bad… not even on top, not faded down the sides, and very VERY square?-ish. This barber was SO friendly, he was the type you could imagine as an awesome grandparent. I did notice that the other 3 customers who came in after us had hardly any hair, so maybe he’s just used to cutting hair off? I don’t know. My son got home and my husband was shocked. The next day at school kids asked him what happened to his hair. It wasn’t a good day for my little bud. After school I nervously took him back in and tried to as nicely as possibly ask him to please fix it. In the end my son’s hair looks fine. He said he originally did a flat top? but that he needed a round cut. The barber fixed it and wasn’t awkward about me needing to come back. I’m glad we got to meet a friendly man, but I can’t ever picture myself bringing my sons or husband here for another cut. Prices were low! $15 for his cut, I gave a $5 tip. I didn’t tip again when I took him back to have it fixed, but maybe I should have? I don’t know. I’ve never had to take a haircut back before lol.
