This is a safe place for Senior Citizens & Disabled people. At this time, we have a very nice Site Manager & you can apply at any time. Applications are available in a box right beside the office door with a gold slot for mail, suggestions, written needs, etc. Our bldg is 1 block from a fire station & EMS also close by. Parking is available, elevator all floors. A storage bin is located in the basement for each apt. & requires a lock. Apts are inspected on a regular basis to make sure they are kept clean & safe & they are sprayed for bugs EVERY MONTH. This helps to keep all of us from having a problem. YOU are responsible for any visitors you have that they also respect the rules. NO SMOKING IN THE COMMON AREAS, ELEVATOR, LAUNDRY ROOM, GARBAGE WASTE ROOMS, ON PORCH & HALLWAYS. You can smoke in your own room, but door is to remain closed as many have allergies & health conditions when exposed to smoke. You are in control of your own heat pump located in your apt. Most Apts are 1 bedroom but there are a very few large 1room apt with a separate kitchen & bath. I've been there for more than 14 yrs & enjoy my privacy & you never hear your neighbors❗ Bldg is Steel & Stone❗Roof is fairly new & windows easy to lean in to clean both sides. Counter space is very small in kitchens but you will have a frostfree refrigerator & 4 burner stove w/oven. Baths are made to accommodate handicap. When you pay your rent, that includes your water, sewage, trash & electric❗Your other expense would be for phone, TV & internet if wanted. Location is very good & ICATS has a stop right at THE PLAZA if you need a ride❗Everything is very convenient right downtown in our beautiful city of Statesville. THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE, WE ARE *NOT ALLOWED A CHAIR* RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR APT & can be a problem if can't walk far or ill & need to sit, or back problems (like me) & need to put my 👛 purse, groceries, Bible & study supplies & 💊 medication supplies ON THE FLOOR❗It's a lot of bending for many of us that DON'T have that many ""BEND OVERS""in a day❗😥 So how about just 1 decent chair (like a patio straight-back chair) just outside OUR DOOR like we use to have. We do have doors that have a code to get in for our safety & a back door opened by a 🔑 key. Call or come by to get on the list. "Sometimes" an apt is open they can show. But at least ask for a tour of the bldg, sprinkling system, Fire escape, etc. At least we are safe right in the ❤ heart of town😊🏢💒🏙🏨🚒🚔❗Beautiful view from the 4th floor❤❤❤❗

Based on income. They need to put new padding and carpet in. Kept in good shape other than that.

Carol-This is not 100 per cent accurate. HUD dictates the age and it has always been for ages 62 (SIXTY TWO) and up; however, if a person is disabled and under 62 and can verify the disability based on SSA regulations, that person could qualify. As for the apartments: there are 62 units/apartments that are one bedroom. There are 7 of these that are considered "Handicapped accessible" and have specific accommodation factors. There is no separation between the living room and bedroom---consider it a flat, or a studio apartment. These 7 are normally designed for those in wheelchairs but could be occupied by anyone who qualifies to reside at Plaza. Now, if someone in a wheelchair comes in and needs (and wants) the apt. with the wheelchair access, and the current resident is not in need of said apt., that person would move to an available regular sized apt, if available, so the wheelchair person could rent it. These 7 apartments could be rented to men OR women. Visitors are allowed.
