I left the Twin Cities 5 years ago. Yesterday while fishing the upper Madison in Montana I was fortunate to run into Mike (owner) preparing to fish. Small world. I wish he had a store in the area I live now. I always enjoyed my visits to his shop.

The shop appeared a little up scale, no wicker creels. The owner was helpful and had most of the stuff on my list He gave me a deal on some grizzly hackle, which I appreciated. I have been fishing a few years, when I go into a fly shop I want to see some trappings of tradition. Still I spent 200+, so they had most of the stuff I wanted and needed

I always love making a stop here. Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff - Mike the rest of the staff are always willing to talk shop and give advice. I love browsing (and buying) all the great flies, gear, and merch they have in the store. Grab a donut and a coffee next door (Bakers Wife) and wander into the best fly shop in town.

Matthew Stanton You are extremely disrespectful and dishonest with your review. Lying is no way to go through life. Mike the owner has never perceived or said to pursue fly fishing is for the wealthy ONLY or it’s supposed to be dry fly ONLY. I am a blue collar worker and Veteran with a family. In no uncertain terms will I be wealthy or have been wealthy. He greats me with the same respect as wealthy customers. I have bought hundreds of dollars worth of nymph and streamer patterns , hundreds of dollars in tying materials for trout bass and pike and musky from Mends. Over the past 6 years He has plenty of variety of price range for fly rods and reels from Orvis Clearwater model to Winston A lot of his brand names like Lamson and simms have a low mid and high range price of equipment he carries them all or will get them for you. Of all my travels from the driftless to Montana to Florida I have never come across a fly shop owner like Mike the owner of Mends so enthusiastic over getting kids into fly fishing and fly tying My son loves to Fly fish and fly tying and thanks to Mike the owner of Mends great mentoring he will be able to pursue a lifetime activity Matthew Stanton you are what is wrong with today’s public media society.

Customers are required to wear masks. The number of customers in store at one time is limited to 6.
I don't believe so. I've only ever seen them sell Orvis, Redington, Sage, Lamson
We do not, only gear for fly anglers. Bait is hard to find in Mpls, try the Ace Hardware stores at 38th & Nicollet and Diamond Lake Rd & Nicollet. Thanks
