Recently financed a new vehicle through this credit union and have had nothing but issues trying to make my first payment. The welcome packet received didn’t include my account/member number, so I had to call and wait on hold for 20 minutes to get that. After getting my member number, I continued getting denied online access to my account because of “incorrect information,” but the emails nor customer service could tell me what was coming back as incorrect. Customer service told me they didn’t have access to the information so they had to forward my information to another group who I still haven’t heard from. I called the automated line to at least make my payment before the due date while I continue trying to gain online access and of course since I’m not paying with one of THEIR accounts, I couldn’t even do that. At this point, I’m not 100% sure this institution would like to receive their payments…they are making something as simple as a member wanting to MAKE A PAYMENT unnecessarily difficult! If interest rates didn’t just jump up, I would refinance my vehicle with Spero FCU in a heartbeat!

Tried getting a PIN for my card. Called one number and was told to call the other. Once calling that number I was told to go back to the first number. After pleading with someone from the first number to get me to where I needed to be, I was transfered, only to get hung up on. After going through the same thing again, I got to where I needed to be just to make me jump through MORE hoops, just to be told I couldn't get any help.

Been a member for over 10 years and until recently unsatisfactory services. Be careful with online banking as it’s not accurate and the charge/balance posts are delayed. I might as well go back to the traditional ledger to track my spending! I need banking that I can trust and manage my balances by showing balance posts accurately. Not being able to manage my account has resulted in excessive and unnecessary fees. I also spoke to a rep who was more interested in getting me to see it his way then actually helping.

Depending on where you live it's free, but if you don't meet the requirements there is a 10 dollar fee, so yes anyone can open an account.

How much to start an account

To start an account at Sharonview FCU you need to work for a company that SFCU allows the company's employees to open an account there or be an immediate family member of the employee. I opened my account several years ago and I didn't have to have any money to do so. They might have changed this practice by now but you can call your local branch and ask if they require a minimum deposit and for how much? They don't bombard you with fees (no annual, monthly, etc). SFCU offers free checking and free ATM withdrawals from any ATM (whoever owns the ATM may charge you for using their ATM though). They do have their own ATMs although there aren't many of them and most are located inside of the Sharonview branches or right outside of the building. I hope this helps you with your question as well as gives you a bit of information about Sharonview FCU. Note: I'm giving you the answer to the best of my knowledge. I recommend calling the branch where you're interested in joining.
