Questions & Answers

Will insurance cover eyelid surgery?

Eyelid surgery, called blepharoplasty, is generally considered a cosmetic procedure and isn't covered by insurance. The exception is if your upper eyelids obstruct your field of vision, which can create a safety issue. You'll need to document your condition before scheduling the eyelid surgery to ensure the insurance company covers the procedure.

My hands look old. Is there any treatment for hands?

The Center for Dermatology & Laser Surgery | Oct 23, 2019

Many people overlook their hands when thinking about signs of aging. Loss of volume in the back of the hands creates wrinkled skin and makes veins appear more prominent. We use RADIESSE® injections to restore volume to the hands. RADIESSE for hands is similar to other fillers, but it actually stimulates the production of new collagen in addition to creating volume. That results in skin that looks smoother and more youthful.

Are BOTOX and fillers the same thing?

The Center for Dermatology & Laser Surgery | Oct 23, 2019
The Center for Dermatology & Laser Surgery | Oct 23, 2019

The one thing that BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal filler injections have in common is that they both minimize wrinkles and fine lines. But they are not the same. BOTOX is best-known for treating wrinkles around the eyes, such as crow's feet, and horizontal forehead lines. It works by immobilizing facial muscles we use to make expressions, such as squinting and frowning. Fillers, such as JUVÉDERM®, restore volume lost as part of the normal aging process. This includes nasolabial folds and tear troughs below the eyes.

I just heard about the Vbeam laser. What's it used for?

The Center for Dermatology & Laser Surgery | Oct 23, 2019
The Center for Dermatology & Laser Surgery | Oct 23, 2019

The Vbeam® laser is versatile and can treat a range of skin conditions. We primarily use Vbeam laser therapy for patients concerned about redness caused by broken blood vessels and birthmarks, as well as people with rosacea. A Vbeam treatment does stimulate collagen production and can help minimize fine lines and wrinkles, too.

What is Fraxel?

The Center for Dermatology & Laser Surgery | Oct 23, 2019
The Center for Dermatology & Laser Surgery | Oct 23, 2019

Fraxel® is a brand of fractional laser that is used to treat a range of concerns about the appearance of a patient's skin. Fraxel uses fractional laser technology to penetrate the top layers of the skin, stimulating collagen development and kick-starting the skin's natural rejuvenation process. What makes Fraxel laser treatments attractive is that there is less downtime associated with them than ablative laser treatments that strip away the skin's outer layer.

What are the costs involved with restylane treatments?

Pat Mazzei | Oct 23, 2018
The Center for Dermatology & Laser Surgery | Oct 23, 2019

The cost of Restylane treatments, as with virtually all cosmetic procedures, varies from patient to patient. It depends on your specific concerns and the amount of filler needed to address the issue.
