My grandmother was here for a year and passed away there in March. I was on the list of people to give information to the only one family wise about her health and condition. They called me anytime there was a troublesome issue they even called when she had had Covid the month prior to her death. She had a guardian through the state prior to her death as they let her with dementia make this decision because she passed the BIMS test. She couldn’t even write or walk. The higher up staff members that I called repeatedly and left messages for didn’t call me back ever. When I called I got a nursing station but they could only give limited information. I called several days prior to her passing to check on her and they stated she was fine. Then the day she passed they called me at 9 am to tell me she was gone and asked me if I was going to come up there to get her things and asked me who they needed to call to get her body. I was in shock and devastated as they did not call me the night before or even the day or so before she passed when they had already issued comfort meds and they knew she was going to die. When I went up there immediately after the call and asked them why they didn’t call me they said that her guardian Sherol Sebring Jones with Northwest guardianships told them not to call anyone until after she passed which to me is crazy that they let my grandmother whom I went and saw and called to check on regularly and was on the list to call about let her die alone in a room. When I got there they left me alone with her to pack her things for 45 mins until the funeral person arrived during that time I packed my grandmothers personal items as she lay there dead. This woman was my mother she raised me she was everything to me and the way they treated her and me at the time of her death knowing I had called to check on her and asked what would happen if she did get to a passing state bc she had had Covid and they said they would call me but they didn’t. I hold Northwest and Mrs Jones and the staff at the VA highly and completely responsible for letting my beloved grandmother die alone and it is wrong what they all did. I would never recommend this place for a loved one nor would i recommend Northwest or Mrs Jones as a guardian. When I contacted her she was soulless about the entire matter and unbelievably rude. I hope this helps someone else not have to experience this with a loved one.

My mom was a Marine in the Vietnam era. My mom died 2017 and had two broken hips a week apart before she died. In my eyes this placed had a good staff and atmosphere . Only took a star away for each hip that was broke before her passing. Office people were helpful and nice .

We are the conservator for a veteran who is living and thriving at TN Veterans' Home - Humbolt. I have had nothing but caring, professional staff to talk to to help us care for him. I haven't been able to visit the facility but hope to soon.
