My expectations for this place were quite high. But I was very disappointed. I went on October 7, if it was a Saturday night, of course it was full. There were two people in front of us waiting for a table. More than 10 minutes passed, and nobody told us what to do, the waiters passed by and did not tell us if there was room for us (there were two of us) or how long it would take to get a table. After several minutes a waiter who doesn't even come close, tells us that there is no table that it will take more or less 20 minutes. We decide to wait… after 20 min, we sit down, place our order. We ordered an octopus carpaccio, and a margarita pizza. The zero seasoned carpaccio, super simple, not a drizzle of olive oil, literally the slices of the octopus, rugula, and 3 super dry lemon wedges. They never brought us pepper or olive oil to the table, nor did they offer it. For the pizza, all wrong, super pale, and with the texture of a little undercooked. The pizza sauce in my opinion tasteless, rather acidic, and ultimately super disappointed, from the service to the food. I'm pregnant and the pizza was fatal to me, from that same night the lack of cooking took its toll.

I just want to preface this by saying we’ll continue to go strictly for the pizza and nothing else. Today’s and last time’s events warranted a review. 5 stars for pizza. 1 star for service and pasta and pricing on pasta. We ordered the cacio Pepe thinking it was the standard 18-24 dollars like in literally every other place. We said VERY clearly no mushrooms. We HATE mushrooms. (also why does this cacio have mushrooms??? It traditionally does NOT). When the server arrived, the plate had mushrooms and I noticed. He had completely forgot. I told him please no mushrooms.. like we already mentioned. He went back and came 2 mins later. I was hoping the pasta was re-made, nope.., just picked them out. I SAW him pick out on last one right in front of me. Pasta went in the wheel and was tossed around and served. It was 100% COLD and it tasted like mushrooms which again, I hate. I was too exhausted to really say anything at this point. It tasted terribly. The dumb fire show is lame and underwhelming. The bill came ( after waiting for like 15 mins). The cacio was THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS. What???? That’s robbery. My jaw literally dropped. I was so upset I didn’t even tip. Cacio is a huge treat for me diet wise and I was expecting so much more. But for 35 dollars?? FOH. ALSO last time we came here we ordered dessert (fried Oreos) and it took 50 minutes to arrive. That was also a day we were ultra disappointed. Pizza is good tho and that’s about it. Service is not good.

I've been meaning to check Porto out since I moved to North Jersey last year and I'm kicking myself for waiting this long. The energy in the space is great (although the music could be turned down a notch; it's hard to have a conversation). They have a beautiful brick oven at the front of the restaurant and the pizza that comes out of it is delicious. Our drinks were excellent. We also saw the table next to us get a show where they bring out of wheel of cheese, set it on fire, and then toss pasta into it. I'll have to report back on the pasta!
