Went a bit further afield today. Enjoyed being out in the country. It was a good 5 mile walk. Saw a historic bridge from the 1920’s. No shade on the path so glad we were here in January. Wish we could have seen more glimpses of the river.

All the trails except one were closed. I wouldn't even call it a trail, more like a driveway with really tall grass alongside it. It's not maintained at all. The "trail" we took had no shade, no flowers, nothing to climb or sightsee. It just feels like you're walking down a crazy long driveway.

Similar to the park near the dam this canoe launch has a set of stairs. There is water at the bottom so it could be used but be wary if you have a heavy kayak that getting down and up those stairs can be difficult, especially for those who prefer to drag their boat as little as possible or use a cart. Restroom was clean and very usable and the rest of the park seemed nice.

There are plenty of tasks to walk here. The area is very clean. The view isn't overly spectacular, however, it's very nice to have something like this so close to town. Also surprising was how clean the bathrooms are. There aren't many bathrooms, but in both of the ones I visited, the were incredibly clean.

Questions & Answers

Why is the 380 entrance closed and when will it reopen?

Lynzi Edwards | Jun 16, 2021
Laurie Mrdjan | Jun 17, 2021

It has been closed for several years due to large trees causing a dam effect and flooding that area. Supposedly the trees were removed last year and the water was going back to a normal flow. This entrance was supposed to open on 2020 but never did. No update that I was able to find.

No. You could camp at the state park on the north end but there is no camping anywhere on the trail. Day use only.

Its not for boats unless you are talking about a kayak or canoo

Is it open? I see lots of people commenting it has been closed for years.

The section from 380 going north to 428 is closed. The section starting at 428 going north to Ray Roberts is open.
