There are picnic areas with grills under the bridge and it's beautiful there.

Very clean and cool little beach area. Location is steeped in history from the view of where WW2 ships were built to a view of quarantine Island where people were sent in the 1800s that had yellow fervor. Power outlets, grills, and new sheltered picnic tables adorn the area.

Just a small elongated park under a new high bridge. You can walk out onto a section of the old bridge for a view of the river. Much noise from the traffic on the new bridge. There are a few picnic tables. Our interest was in seeing a historical marker at a home near Tryon NC. stating Sidney Lanier died there after a long illness. The area where the park is is near where he wrote many poems about.

Probably goes against code of parks and there are barriers in place against such things.
