Following the communication I had with the church of Agios Georgios, for a non marital certificate, unfortunately, if you are not a member of the church (for the price of at least $ 500 a year), the church does not recognize you and can not serve you directly and immediately. If one isn’t a member, one has to wait 2.5 weeks to be given that same certificate! I'm sorry that this church sees fellow Greeks and Orthodox Christians as money and not as human beings. I asked for a certificate from the church and for the passed 7 years now I visit all the time. Every year I also attend the Greek festival and I spend over $ 200 each time. Fortunately, however, I managed to get that same certificate out from Greece , from a priest who did not look at me in the pocket and most importantly, the person does not even know me. I spoke to him humanely and with legal and appropriate proof of me being single and elegible to be married religiously, solid previous marriage certificates and creeds of divorce and such. Your church received the same documents from me and I haven’t heard a word yet. But I had to go way out of my way to manage to satisfy bureaucracy. And one last thing: how is it allowed in a Greek church to have a secretary who does not speak Greek? You are unacceptable and not helpful to a fellow Christian unless he or she is a member. Thank you for nothing!
