amazingly clear and warm. nice place to swim!

Nice state park approximately halfway up the Cape. Flora on the Cape is typically pretty distinctive, but not so much here. I could have forgotten I was on the Cape when I was wandering the trails if it wasn’t for the sandy gravel. For the most part it looks like a run of the mill walk through some Massachusetts woods. There is not a ton of signage, and the trails aren’t marked well, although there is a really nice, clear lake here and it seems like swimming is allowed. The best part, though, is the lack of crowds, especially compared to nearby Nickerson. Nothing special, in my opinion, but a great place to take quiet walk nonetheless.

Absolutely beautiful. So quiet and serene. It's a rough drive in and out, but those trails are totally worth it!

Nice spot for a hike, but you need a vehicle capable of handling dirt trails to reach the lakes. Also, I could not find an easily accessible trail to either Black or Oliviers Ponds. If you are planning on fishing, I would recommend paying the parking fee and fishing at Nickerson State Park

Hawksnest is free, but it's not a state park like Nickerson (in Brewster) or Myles Standish. It's dirt roads through the woods with random little trails and lakes.
