My wife had hip surgery with Dr. Figgie in 2018. Her experience with him is way different that these other glowing reviews. She did not want to be his last patient to be operated on so we scheduled an afternoon to have her procedure. She was the last patient on the HSS board in the waiting room in an OR in the whole hospital. Then after surgery the normal recovery is 1 day, she stayed 4 due to not doing well. When the post op appointment day came he walked in asked how she is doing, she said not well still cannot walk correctly. He said Tylenol and more rehab and he never looked at the scar and walked out in 2 minutes. Terrible bedside manner and his attitude is like who are you to question me? Would not recommend him at all, his ego gets in the way of proper patient care.

In 2004, at age 69, every step was so painful, that when Dr. Figgie suggested I might have both knees operated on at the same time, I gratefully agreed. Doing a double replacement was not common then, but I didn't want to go through all this again later on. Recuperation was uneventful. I don't remember pain, partly because one seems to forget pain after a while, and that pain management was unobtrusive and good. A couple of weeks in Burke rehab and I was home. A week later, my husband passed away. Talk about bad timing. But because of the excellent surgery and post op care, I was able to be a hostess at a most difficult time, maneuver the stairs in my three story home, and get to rehabilitation locally. None of this would have been possible if not for excellent surgery and after care from HSS. Dr. Figgie was recommended to me by a relative, and I have since recommended him to others. He's a wonderful doctor. Eighteen years later, the knees are still going strong. If you need the surgery, just do it. But have Dr. Figgie perform it at HSS. It's a wonderful hospital.

Had TKR 8 weeks ago and just had my follow up a few days ago. Knee on xray looks perfect. Couldn't be happier with results. Getting right hip done in couple of weeks and eventually other knee. HSS is also the most efficient hospital I've ever been too. All in all I'd have given 10 stars if possible.

I had a knee done in Aug 2016 and he did accept medicare with a little bit more. I think 250 dollars. He is a great surgeon worth any money. Because of him i walk without pain. He did one in 07 and one last year both were difficult because of accidents. He is the best.
