Called an hour before checkin and was told room was ready. Got there half an hour past checkin and it was NOT ready. They called me at 3:58pm to let me know it was ready. The "look" of the room was very nice. Larger television than most places. Unfortunately, we were immediately met with a terrible body odor smell in the room. Had to get some ZEP air spray from housekeeping. Unfortunately, as soon as we got in the shower was met with an OVERPOWERING URINE smell. Had to use the zep on the shower curtain that night and again in the morning...SO GROSS!!! There was black mold growing in the sink which means it had been a LONG time since they last properly cleaned it which seriously made me question standing in the bathroom tub as well. Popcorn and a used plastic cup under the nightstand from some tenant before us. Lots of water on the bottom of the fridge we had to use a towel to soak up. The springs in the bed poked my back despite supposedly being renovated a year before thus didn't get a decent night's sleep. Screen to window was bent so bugs could come in. This was supposed to be our late honeymoon but room was too disgusting so we slept there only one night and departed around 7pm the following day. It took us until 7 to decide that we really couldn't tolerate staying any longer as I was getting pretty sick from the horrid smell. They said because we had a late checkout no refund for the second night which is ironic since they were late checking us in. Okay for them, not for us. This is not the way I believe business should be done so can't recommend this to anyone. With Covid and the sublevel of cleaning, I absolutely cannot recommend this place. When the smell was first brought to them, they should have quickly put us in another room. This is not good service for a regular customer much less a Gold Elite Member which I am. :(

They lay out and amenities were great. The in-house staff were pleasant. Being called to ask "What is the purpose of your stay. We do not rent rooms to locals" felt accusatory and discriminatory. If the rate were refundable I would have opted not to stay.

Pay a little extra for the river view so you can see and hear the sea lions, totally worth it. The hotel was clean and comfortable, Safeway is right next door for snacks and beer. I'm told that the trolley occasionally runs right behind the building, going downtown, but I think it's currently shut down due to covid. Pier 39 is a short walk away, for fish & chips and beer. This is a nice simple place for a quiet weekend getaway. Breakfast is pretty comprehensive and more than just continental stuff. Kids enjoyed the pool/hot tub/sauna. Disregard that my kids destroyed the beds in the photos.

Lived up to expectations and exceeded. 24/7 pool and sauna, spacious rooms and clean! The breakfasts were also great. Great spot to anchor for a weekend of sightseeing in Astoria. From our window we could see the Goonies house!
