I planned to move them to my computer. But we went thru some things to delete on the spot in order to transfer

As much as jerks they really do hold up the phone contract warranty
Not sure about iPad. I had to replace a Galaxy S7 Edge last year and it ran me$150.00, if I remember correctly.
I had insurance via my network provider, went into the store in the a.m. & they brought me a new one that evening. My phone was totaled. Broke two fingers intentionally destroying it on a chair. My whole hand/wrist is in a splint after ER visit.
Maybe email them and put a stop on your bank account if you can't reach them. Last resort is to mail them a letter then
They should have sent you info to activate, if not, contact your provider or go online to your subscriber and activate as normal
