We were on the island for a wedding and what a beautiful place! We went during the fall so the ferry ran less than during peak season. But, there is plenty to do to occupy your time. Island was very well maintained, clean despite all of the visitors and there were plenty of picnic tables to rest of needed. There were also plenty of restrooms scattered about. You must bring your own food and/or drinks. The ruins throughout the island and the wild horses were spectacular!

This place is awesome horses are everywhere although for those who don't know much about horses they fight with each other and don't care where there at when it happens just be on alert and stay a good distance away and it will make for a great video :) the whole island was awesome

Incredible view, pictures really don't do the size of this place justice.

How far is the hike from the ferry dock? Is the entire path accessible by bike?

The main road pretty much ends at the ruins,it is all accessible by bike, from Greyfield inn dock it's a little over a mile ,I believe, mostly hard packed dirt road and trails are easy to ride on,with many nice spots to stop and rest along the way, well worth the effort to explore Dungeness...looking to the south from behind the ruins, across the marsh ,is one of my favorite views on the island. Must have been a true privilege to enjoy it back when it was in its prime...
