2022 update: My experience has improved significantly. Different front desk staff from when I first came. No complaints anymore. Appointment times are much better, especially with virtual appointments. Nurses are awesome. Very friendly, attentive and caring. My primary care doctor has been pleasant, responsive and easy to work with. The security guard is still very cool. Always good to see him sitting there. The facility is bright, updated and clean. It’s on par with any private medical office in my opinion. Increased rating from 3 to 5 stars. Original: Going anywhere is easier when people you interact with are pleasant (especially if/when you’re in pain...physically or mentally). The front desk staff could stand to be more pleasant. The security guard is cool and seems to want to brighten people’s day. Two of the nurses I’ve been triaged by are very nice and helpful. But it seems like “just a job” for most everyone else and it takes too long to get appointments. It’s more convenient than driving to DC for “routine” things but at least in DC, I find the staff (overall) to be more accommodating to veterans.

I've been going here since 2018 and the Dr is great. They will refer me to DC if they can't handle specific care. But I've had mostly good experience with this community clinic. It's true, they do NOT take walk ins, but you have to schedule an appointment for everything. Make sure your in the VA HEALTHCARE system so you can choose that clinic...easier to talk with them through the portal. I've had cancer in last year so I've gone back and forth to DC....YOU have to be an established patient in the outpatient clinic. The hoops are worth it to save you from having to go to DC. BELIEVE ME!!! Sometimes I've been frustrated as to calling, then I'll shoot an email to the doc!

They never take walk ins and you have to go to dc for treatment which is an hour drive away from this clinic. Red tape and unapologetic receptionists when you need help.

Veterans beware! I have very little faith in the structure of the administration of healthcare at the VA, especially due to my horrible experiences here at Montgomery County VA Center. The doctor has a kind bedside manner. You will certainly feel comfortable as there is no pushy attitude, nor abruptly shortened visits. But since I have been under their care, my conditions got worse as the doctor treated symptoms rather than the illness. Even then, only one symptom at a time was addressed. I found errors in my records and even though I warned that I have a low tolerance for pharmaceuticals, I was over prescribed meds that made me worse. The doctor said we just have to try to see which meds work, but I am not willing to gamble with my already compromised health. I wanted health CARE, I no longer have faith that I can receive it here. When I voiced concerns, my ailments became psychological issues. To make matters worse, once the VA assigns you a doctor, you are stuck. If I had another choice, I would never use the VA. Shame on this facility and the VHA as a whole. Veterans need advocates. We served, we deserve! Improvements are critically needed.

Can I open and file a claim at this office?

No, this office is for medical purposes. You can file a claim online or by getting in contact with a VA Representative, which I recommend! It's a great help. The VA.gov website had a list of regional reps by state.

Can this facility help you start/file your claim/s?

No they do not... It's a clinic that you go to if you choose to make it yours... You can go to the big VA in Washington or go to this one which is smaller and the staff is friendly and great and the doctors actually listen to you.. . But no, you do not start claims there.
