Thankful to have gotten some cabins during my recent AT hike. Stayed at mountain lion and rabbit cabins. Mountain lion was better but rabbit had a nice streamside view. Sleeping and common areas were clean but the kitchen in rabbit could have done with less bugs. Friendly hostess and cat

Our last time here was 28 years ago. It hurts me to give this place only 3 Stars (and 2 of the 3 Stars for for sentimental reasons). We stayed here in the 1990's several times with family--3 Thanksgivings and another stay was a week before Christmas. Stayed in the Deer Cabin 3 times and the Chipmunk twice. Plus, I've recommended Blood Mountain Cabins to many others who came here and enjoyed it the same as we always did. The place is in obvious neglect. Ownership must have changed. The original owners wouldn't have allowed the place to get in this condition. Let me start be saying we enjoyed our time on this visit, but the following observations undermined our joy, because we know we won't return or recommend Blood Mountain again. Here are some reasons for our disappointment: 1. The porches/decks are rotting in many places, as well as the access steps. SEE PHOTOS. We were in the Chipmunk this time, but while walking throughout the property several times each day we were able to see the exterior condition of the other cabins. Many had sagging rain gutters attached to rotting wood, and the roofs of most cabins were loaded with years worth of debris from the surrounding trees. 2. Walking through the property one observes overflowing "enclosed trash storage closets" which couldn't be closed because they were full, plus, the latch mechanism wasn't working well. This condition was not the result of too many people disposing of trash because the cabins were less than half full during our entire stay. Disappointingly, food packaging trash was scattered on the ground throughout, and most of it had the appearance of having been there for a while. 3. Old "trash" mattresses are laying in full view as you stroll through. SEE PHOTOS. Why not get rid of them and make guests environment more enjoyable. 4. Old lumber, plywood, trailers, tires, lay visible in many locations. SEE PHOTOS. 5. The interior of our Chipmunk cabin was similarly in long term neglect. The futon sofa bed in the living room was very soiled, the fireplace screen is bent and missing handles and is probably the same one we used 28 years ago. Food from previous guests was found in the refrigerator. The pots and pans were in the cabinet under the sink. This cabinet was very soiled and had plenty of spider/cob webs. The plates, cups were covered with what appeared to be saw dust, dirt, and grease (plates, bowls, cups were stored over the stove hood). The kitchen countertops were dirty, covered who-knows-what. There was a dish rack in the sink with a sink dish mat. The first time we washed dishes we removed the rack and mat. What was revealed was thoroughly disgusting: grease of some sort (like bacon grease?) covered with fuzzy mold. We had to scourer and disinfect that sucker. The bath towels were very, very dingy. The bathroom floor in front of the shower and the floor surrounding the toilet felt like it might give way/collapse. There was a huge spider web in the corner of the bathroom window. The trash can in the bathroom (low cost, soiled, dis-colored, with a large crack) is symbolic of the attitude that seems to guide Blood Mountain Cabins maintenance policy, which is don't replace anything. For a shower curtain rod they are using a flimsy spring loaded drapery rod, the 3 living room windows don't have enough curtain panels to actually cover the windows, and they are using an 8 feet long curtain rod for a 3 feet wide window. I could go on and on. Really, Blood Mountain Cabin, circa December 2021, was lucky to get 3 STARS. Two of those stars were for sentimental reasons. ONE STAR is what they deserve. To the owners of Blood Mountain Cabins: sell the property to someone who cares. Oh, one final thing: the highway noise is much more constant now than 28 years ago. The cabins are in a pretty setting and some have great views, but all are close to the highway where racers noisily blast up and down the mountain all day. Traffic was less 28 years ago.

Super chill place to take a zero after a long hike. 2 night minimum for a cabin all to yourself. Worth it!

I loved my stay at the Blood Mountain Cabins. I spent two nights and stayed in two different cabins. It was great to get off the trail and get a pizza and just relax. The owner gives a great rate to hikers and it becomes an incredible rate if you split it with a couple of folks. The day I was to check-in, they even hung around late so I could get some food from their store. If you have a couple friends in your tramily, stay here and you won't be disappointed. It will be much more comfortable than cramming 4 or 5 people into a hotel room.
