Love this place. The best beach around hands down.

Great beach

First time visitors to the park this summer and I can only comment as to the 1st swimming area which was our primary reason for visiting and I will explain my 3 star rating. It’s undoubtedly a very beautiful park. It’s so nice to have undeveloped land close to the hustle and bustle of Seaside Heights. It’s hard to believe it’s as close as it is! The beach was very nice. Very busy on The Weekend but to be expected. I should’ve done more research about the park because there is probably areas further down where the crowds don’t go. Overall the beach had plentiful lifeguards, clean sand, and was overall pretty decent. The shower situation brings my 3 star rating. It was very poor. No inside showers and only 2 outside, 1 of which didn’t drain creating a cess pool of funk that was ankle deep. Kids were dumping soda in it and making a splash pad out of it. It was really quite disturbing. With the amount of people that need to rinse the sand off (especially travelers like myself that don’t have the luxury of just driving to their house 10 minutes away) this was a major headache. The inside showers said closed for the season. The mens bathrooms were dirty and didn’t smell good at all. Lots of pee by the urinals and Un-flushed toilets. I’d much rather have went the bathroom over the dunes somewhere than go inside. I wouldn’t let it stop me from visiting again though. Like I said, I probably should’ve hunted down my own “spot in the sand” if you will. Do your homework on it and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Underneath my gripes, it is a beautiful park.

Amazing place for swimming, fishing, and photography.

Dogs are permitted in the park but must be kept on a leash that is a maximum length of six feet. They are not allowed on the swimming beach (the lifeguard area) during the summer season or on the Spizzle Creek Bird Blind Trail at any time.
Sorry, can't help you, we only drive a van to road parking, and leave at sun down.
Yes.
It cost $3.00 a person to get on the beach. They have lifeguards down there, it's about 4 years since it was free.
Theres no way you can drive and fish I'd love to see that
Yes but not in the public beach areas
Check at entrance which beach you can bring one , not all beaches allow grilling. Same as not all beaches allow dogs. Some beaches you need permits , like 4 wheel drive beaches , just because you own one , u still need a permit.
No
You can take your dog to the south parts of the park where there are no lifeguards, lots of fishers with dogs, cars parked on the beach. Lovely place.
In the park there is one spot with lifeguards. Yes, June - ?
You have to leave at 8pm, unless your actively fishing.
I did not see anything regarding camping restrictions on the website. Where does it show camping policies?
Yes. Island Beach has a section for dogs.
I am a resident down here, and there a no signs that say they are closed. You should be good! 😊
Call the front gate.
Yes, you can't drive on the beach without a beach pass but you can walk on anywhere. Only closed during storms.
Yes with or without a boat if you head towards 7a inside the park you will see stairs bring water shoes usually everyone is chilling drinking and playing music pretty chill.
The outdoor shower was open at the 1st beach.
That is correct. You can also apply for one by showing your ID at the gate.
Not that I am aware. As far as I've seen, it is closed at 8pm but it is worth asking a ranger for special circumstance.
I believe Mister Her is right... The park is definitely closed on Thanksgiving.. But I do believe you can fish off the beach. Good luck! 🐟
Yes. You will not be able to drive on to beach but you can fish. They offer a three day pass for driving on to the sand; you'll need to have the correct equipment.
No... I don't know if it still exists?? But there is a campground I went to a lot with my family when I was young.. ALBOCONDO CAMPGROUND. It's nice, and it's right on the Toms River. You would have to see if they still exist. It's on RT. 571 (Bay Ave) on Tom's River/Manchester border.
No cabins..... Dogs on leash allowed.
I would check the website.. But I have gone to the beach there; once they closed.. Everyone who has already made it in before closing is permitted to stay. I have NEVER been there and been kicked out once they closed. When they close, they are just closing because they are at maximum capacity. So, I would say YES. If you want to be safe? Call them. They are always pleasant and willing to answer any questions.
Best to call the park office or front gate. You can also check their facebook page as the usually post closures and reopenings due to capacity.
No tent camping
The same thing I do when I'm there. Pick up trash on the beach. Especially plastic of any kind. Sadly, there's a lot of folks who visit IBSP and use it as their personal trash can.
This year when i renewed my beach pass they said u need one
Probably lunch
If you're looking to truly camp- it's not allowed on Island Beach State Park but if you are actively fishing at night then others in your group might catch some z's. You are allowed to come off the beach and stay in one of the main parking lots in an RV for a few hours overnight. The website will tell you all these details. If you're still not sure the park office people are very helpful. They (like anyone else) expect you to do some legwork in reviewing the website first.
Its not bad just wish u can get in the water on all the beaches
No
The only sleeping you can do is I believe after 11 in the parking lot of bath house 1
Yes , and 4 wheel drive permit to go on the beach by the light house.
It can be accessed from the Atlantic ocean 24/7/365
Walk-ins / bicyclists = free. Vehicles: $6.00 weekdays. $10.00 on weekends/holidays. The rates above are for NJ residents. They double for non-residents. On summer weekends and holidays, arrive early as possible. The island closes once parking is filled.
Depends on the weekend. If you're there by 8 you're fine. I never heard it closing before that.
You will need a permit
Only if you have a fishing rod in the water
There is no camping in any NJ beach. However, in Island Beach, if you have a permit for driving on the beach/shore fishing (200$ annually or 75$ for 3 days) you can technically camp while shore fishing. You would have to leave your fishing pole in front of car cast out into ocean.
Check the website for the most accurate and up to date information.
Info about the park is provided on their website.
On the drive-on surf fishing beach they are allowed on leash, not sure about the other beach
Watch out for rip currents.
Seniors get into the park for free, they have to stop at the guard shack with an ID
It's a fee per vehicle $10 per caron the weekend and $6 on week days or $50 for a season pass to the bathing beaches. There are also passes for vehicles to drive on the beach however I am unaware as to the prices of the passes, also you vehical needs to meet a list of requirements but again I don't know them off hand.
There is a fee. $10 per car, $50 for year pass. Year pass also works for other perks in other NJ state parks like Allaire.
no swimming today, August 30
Island Beach State Park is open 365 days a year from 8 am to 8pm unless you're fishing. Then the park is open 24 hours
