If you already have a diamond (natural or lab-created), gemstone, or moissanite, you can order an engagement ring to accommodate your center stone. There may be additional modification costs associated with the ring, and a representative from Ben Garelick will follow-up with you after the order is placed to confirm all costs. We can also help customers who want to take stones from their old pieces of inherited jewelry and remake them into new pieces that will last for future generations.

We first opened in Buffalo, New York in 1952, Ben Garelick as a family-owned business. Having learned the business starting as a stock boy, our current owner, Peter Manka Sr. and his children, Jennifer and Peter Jr. dedicate their efforts to offering high-quality jewelry and great customer service. Yes, while we do not buy every piece of jewelry or loose diamond, we will take a look and evaluate 100% of your jewelry to at least give a fair estimate of resale price and ideas to sell it elsewhere. We also work with many people who inherit jewelry from their parents or grandparents and want to get an idea of value so they can split up the estate properly. We will also give you a very fair market scrap gold or platinum price and pay you cash on the spot for items that we agree to purchase. We will also double our cash price if you use that money as a credit towards a jewelry repair or purchase. For example, if we offer you $1000 for your old jewelry, you would receive $1000 cash or $2000 towards a jewelry repair or jewelry purchase. While appointments aren’t necessary, we do encourage them and you can email us, text, chat or call to set up an appointment if you choose!

Ring sizing starts at $45. The price depends on the type of metal, the number of stones, the ring’s width and how many sizes we need to go up or down. If you have a platinum ring it will cost more to size than gold as platinum is a more expensive metal. If you have a lot of side stones in your ring, every time the jeweler cuts the ring to open it up to size it to add more metal, or size it down the side diamonds’ prongs are moved and therefore each and every one of the side diamond’s prongs needs to be tightened. All white gold ring resizings are rhodium-plated which is included in the price of sizing. Resizing your ring is a time-consuming job and should only be trusted with an experienced jeweler.

While some stores offer ring sizing while you wait, and some even send their ring repairs offsite which takes two to three weeks (sometimes a month), Ben Garelick takes the appropriate time to do your ring sizing right the first time. We thoroughly clean your ring to make sure it is free from any lotion or soap scum (and any other dirt from daily wear). And then we properly size your ring. Most rings take about three to four business days to properly size and we try to rush through newly engaged engagement ring sizing requests for you.

Yes, all of our repairs are done onsite at our repair shop on Transit road by an experienced jeweler with 35-plus years’ experience. Your jewelry never leaves the premises.
