I walked in to request information regards a job opening and learn more about the ambiance, and Jasmine was accommodating. She answered all my questions and even offered to further assist with my application if needed.

I’m very upset the front desk woman has a bad attitude and no information to pass along.I came there trying to ask questions about the living facility the front desk woman said she don’t know just call later in the day as she play with her cell phone.

We moved my Mom to Heritage Woods S Elgin in January 2020, two months before COVID. Every time I am there the facility is clean, her apartment is clean, and activities, now that they have resumed, seem to be enjoyed and well attended. The main nurse, Joyce, is fantastic. However, like many similar facilities they seem to be drastically short staffed. I think they are on their 3rd director of nursing and at least 2nd manager since we moved her. Her care plan requires she have a hands-on escort because she is a fall risk. Every time I am there, the CNA "escort" walks 10 or 20 feet away, usually in front of Mom so they can't see her, while watching their phone. Mom has fallen a few times while in transit to meals. She has fallen in her apartment and pushed her panic button, and I timed how long it took for someone to arrive....20 minutes. I watched the CNA come strolling down the hall while playing on their phone. Most recently, she fell in her apartment and pushed her panic button. She waited for a very very long time. The CNA, when she finally arrived said she was in a meeting and ignoring pages. The same CNA also stated she had a bad back and Mom would have to get up herself or wait until a nurse arrived. The CNA then left Mom where she was on the floor, with Mom's walker out of reach. No nurse came, and Mom, who was injured, had to drag herself to her chair, right her walker, get to the bathroom (supposed to have assistance with that) before she had an accident, and then the CNA came back with no nurse. When Mom WHO WAS INJURED, asked about the nurse, the CNA yelled at her. The CNAs routinely ignore mom's care plan telling her to do things on her own when her care plan lists she needs assistance with those tasks. They forget to take take her to meals or bring meals to her room, so she goes without eating. Now they can't seem to get her her medication. She has now missed doses of 2 medications. Personal items we brought to her (shampoo, toothpaste etc) during lockdown disappeared somewhere between the front lobby and her room. A gait belt we bought went missing from her room. She complained about it and was told a staff person took it to use on another patient and lost it. They were kind enough to replace it, but I am pretty sure it is illegal to take a piece of medical equipment that is the personal property of one resident, without permission, and use it on someone else. Basically, this place operates like an Independent Living facility with cafeteria food and assistance with daily living when the staff feel it is convenient for them. I have reached out to the facility and their owner, Gardant, and gotten no response. Next step is the Ombudsman.
